Ushuaia: End of The World Day Tours

  • Hiking Mount Pelado

    Highlights

    • Hiking in Ushuaia

The Lookout over the Skies of Ushuaia. This hike to reach a lookout located over 850 meters (2 790 feet) above Ushuaia is for those who love heights. At the summit of this mount a 360º panorama awaits us: mount Olivia and mount Cinco Hermanos, the Carvajal and Andorra valleys, the Beagle Channel, Murray Pass, Navarino and Hoste islands and the best view of Ushuaia. During a 3 hour-long uphill hike through the forest, we will have an intimate encounter with this millenary ecosystem. As we climb we might hear the mount pulse under our feet and hear its breath whispering in the trees. Once we reach the tree line, without the shelter of the forest, in the open we’ll see what the condors see. It is a steep and demanding hike, for which fitness is essential, but it pays-off with a moment between the clouds that exceeds imagination.

  • Estancia Inés

    Highlights

    • Ranch in Ushuaia.
    • Country Side.

During this full-day tour we propose activities in the territory of Estancia Ines on the Atlantic coast. Our focus today is on the natural environment and the typical features of 19th Century Tierra de Fuego ranches that make them different in many ways from other Patagonian estancias.
Early in the morning, we leave Ushuaia Northbound to make the most out of our day during a 10 hour-long tour. We will cross the Andes Range at Garibaldi Pass, where we will enjoy a lookout over lake Escondido, a little wonder hidden at the bottom of a valley. After leaving behind the gigantic lake Fagnano, we enter the ecotone, an area where we witness the transitions between two ecosystems, and where the undulated steppe plunge into the sea and show patches of subantarctic forest.
Behind each fence we reach, the internal tracks that crisscross the estancia lead us further in our exploration of this fantastic area. In our 4x4 we explore Nature, passing beavers' dams and going into a magical ñires forest through which we glimpse the Atlantic Ocean. We take a medium difficulty hike to reach cliffs that give us splendid sea views. In addition, these cliffs hide coves and beaches whose rocks have been carved by centuries of tides, and offer shelter to a large colony of sea lions and nesting ground to several Andean condors, who often come flying over us during the trip. In the afternoon we return to Ushuaia, taking advantage to stop and visit the Cerro Jeujepén viewpoint, where we have a snack with a magnificent view of Lake Fagnano and the surrounding mountain ranges.
